Natyacharya Sri S .Balachandra Raju Born in a familywith great musical tradition- inseparably attached with music for atleast five generation consecutively

His great grand father, Sri.N.Somasundara Raju is a great musician and great scholar of Tamizh literature-he was the Tamizh pandit of the Pachaiappan school, the then counterpart of the today's most famous Arts and Science college of Chennai, Pachaiappa's college.

Guruji's grandfather, Sri.N.Balasundara Raju, is an expert in playing 10 instruments and was called as “DasavadyaVidvan” for the same.

Natyacharya's father, Sri.N.B.Sundara Raju isa famous accompaniment player of his times in many instruments like Harmonium, Violin, Veena, Mridangam, Tabla and Pakkavanch. He had been the permanent accompanist for most of the famous dancers on different instruments.

There is another scholarship in memorial of Guruji’s father and his Guru Shri N.B. Sundara Raju which consists of a Gold medal and merit certificate each in the field music and dance.

Natyacharya Sri S .Balachandra Raju has choreographed many dance dramas. Guruji Natyacharya Sri S Balachandra Raju has taken more research work in his career and has found many traditional compositions of our ancestors’Kavthuvam, Mallari, Varnams and many more. His own compositions like Pushpanjali, ChakradaraVarnams, Padams, Kuru natyanaadakangal, dance dramas are very interesting and are coveted by other dance teachers.

Guruji Natyacharya Sri S. Balachandra Raju's composing of karananrutham, Bharathakalpitham, thaandavabedam and Chithambarapancharathnam, NavarasaSidhaanandasabesan, Shiva leela are his remarkable masterpiece. Guruji Natyacharya Sri S Balachandra Raju teach dance with necessary theory and technique details of the items like raga, calculation, meaning of the song, composing technique, history of the items and all the details.

In basic steps he done research and formed a technical study called Cure through Dance. Natyacharya Sri S .Balachandra Raju started his music and dance classes in Chennai-5, on 1980 in the name of NruthyaSangithaNikethan. Natyacharya Sri S .Balachandra Raju start it teaching carrier in his 14 years old as a music teacher and he established his school in 1980 in the name of NruthyaSangithaNikethan in Chennai Triplicane. NruthyaSangithanikethan is established to promote music instrument coaching and classical Bharathanatyam training. Guruji trained many more student apart from the institute by way of home tutionsalsofrom 1980's to 1990's. Natyacharya trained thousands of students in dance and music, especially in musical instruments Violin, Veena, Flute, Harmonium, Keyboard, Guitar, Mandolin, Sithar, Dilrupa, Thabala, Mrudangam, Ganjira, Clarinet and many more. Natyacharya Sri S .Balachandra Raju composed many devotional albums in his music It is a unique style not only for listeners and also for music learners. In Guruji's every music composition there are some typical technique or new raga will be there. He coordinatedTamilnadu NCC as a music and dance director and trained cadets for Republic day celebration in 1990 to 1993. He has composed the NCC's anthem in Tamil as a choir music. Guruji's specialized area his choir music and orchestra music (vadhyavrunda) in AIR. He done choir music composing for abroad schools in Malaysia and U.K.

Musicologist

Natyacharya Sri S .Balachandra Raju started writing in his young age at the age of fourteen he presented his Tamil poems in " katarkaraikaviarangam" . In his eighteen he wrote Mookambika kavasam latter then it was presented as a album by Super cassettes which was eagerly listen by former Chief minister Late Shri M .G . Ramachandran. Guruji with blessings of Goddess Mookambika start his musical work in his age of eighteen. His experience of playing flute, violin and mrudangam to dance programs for many dance masters he gain as much as knowledge and he wants to tell some trues to the upcoming artists, but the age and career interrupted him. Since he start to writings as a book . His first music book after Mookambikaa kavasam is Raga- bhava-artham but it delayed by many reason. 1988 His books Raga bhava artham, Harmonium Vasikkakkatrukollungal and Natikkakkatrukollungal (Art of acting) released at a time by Violin Maestro Sri KunnakkudiVaidyanadan. As a Poet:-

A part from musicologist Guruji is a well known as devotional writer and poet. Natyacharya Sri S .Balachandra Raju start writing poems when he was at the age of 10. He has tuned music for his own poems in Tamil, Telugu at his teenagesand choreographed dance urupadis at that age itself. In his school days 1972-73 he wrote poems when V.O.Chithambaram centenary celebration the great duel between VOC and Lord Winch and it was presented as dance drama at his Wesley High School.In 1974 he wrote his first master piece work “Mookambika kavasam" on Goddess Moogaambika and it is presented at katarkaraikaviyarangam in presence of KavingyarVanambadi and others. The same Mookambika kavasam was released as a free distribution book by Guruji's students in 1980. This Mookambika kavasam was come to notice of KavingyarTamilmani and it was presented musical devotional album in 1986 by Super cassette company. In 1986 Guruji's lyrics of twenty tuned as maripathu and Melmaruvathuraadiparasakthipadalgal released by RR company and Mari-pathu ten songs of goddess Sakthi by Guruji's Abhaya Audio's. Abhaya Audio's produced Guruji's dance lyrics as NatanaManjari, Karumariyamman kavasam and ThiruvannamalaiArunachaleshwara'sPanchaboodhanadhan albums in guruji's music. There are plenty of lyrics written by Natyacharya Sri S Balchandra Raju among them Pillayarpatti kavasam and songs are tuned by him and sung by Smt Vani jayaram and Dr. SirgaziShivachithmbaram is got a mass welcome by Hindu devotees. The resent album on Swamy Iyappan "IyappanvazinadaiKappu" is also a new concept for Guruji's poetical formation. In this recital he have approached a new concept, i.e. requesting The Almighty HariharaSasthaIyappa, to bless His gracious presence with the devotees during the tedious journey to His Holy Abode - Sabarimala. This Concept has been approached as many a devotees marching towards This Holy Abode often meet with accident, hurdles or health woes. Chithambaram is the holy place for lord siva worshipers. Guruji composed with the blessings of lord Nataraja Chithambarapancharathnam. The lyrics and the tune are set by Guruji and sung by Padmashri Dr. SirgaziShivachithmbaram.
